Nursery Reveal #1

Well, I figured that I was keeping you all in suspense long enough! haha! I have been waiting to post pictures until everything was done, but that could be just a little while longer. Here is what we have finished!

I really need to take photos during the day next time, but I never think about it until its too late!

The crib is from JC Penney. I love the classic style. It converts to a toddler bed, but not a full-sized bed. We decided to forgo that route because we have an abundance of bedroom furniture as it is.


I was very stupid ambitious, and made all of the bedding. Am I a glutton for punishment? Yes! I thought "Its a tiny bedding set, how hard could it be!?" HAHA RIGHT! What a PITA! The quilt is still a work in progress. I should have it finished up soon though.
The bumpers are made of vanilla colored chenille and three different decorator fabrics. A western print and black and red gingham. I didnt realize until after these were finished, that the Western print that I was using was labeled "DRY CLEAN ONLY!" Awesome! Perfect fabric for an infant to puke on!

When I originally sewed the bumpers, I didnt plan on tufting them. But once they were filled, they definitely needed something extra. They were also extremely fluffy. I know there are mixed opinions on crib bumpers, so I figured, the flattter the better.

For those concerned, the bumpers will be removed as soon as he starts moving around in his crib.

A close up of the piping. I sewed all of the red piping. Over 33 feet to be exact. Yeah, I will NEVER do that again!

Here is view of the bed skirt. Bed skirts are surprisingly very easy to make. Or I should rephrase and say that the way I did it was easy... It may not be right, but it worked!

It was just a little folding, pinning and sewing. Maybe I will make a tutorial one day?

Here is a glimpse of the banner my friend Michelle made for Keating's shower. It fits in perfectly in the nursery! Also, an awesome lamp that my aunt got for him. I love the boots!

While I was hard at work... here is Lola already trying to steal Keating's toys. She is going to have a BIG adjustment! She is dreaming about squeaking and gnawing on Sophie the Giraffe and taking her for her very own!!

Vacation is over!

So, its 2010 and Christmas vacation is over until next year. Sad story.

Who's ready for summer??? I AM! Its 25 degrees and colder than a witches tit! ( I cant take credit for that phrase... that one is from my mom)

This year my blog may change just a bit. I will be having obvious changes such as having a baby... I know for some reason, people dont like reading my baby posts. Well tough cookies! You have been forewarned. =) I am sorry if you dont like them.

You will also probably see a lot of posts on renovating and redecorating our house. I have spent hours upon hours the past two weeks caulking, sanding, priming and painting our board and batten trim. Cleaning out closets, organizing craft stuff, picking out paint colors etc. etc. etc. We are also now considering a laundry room renovation. Our goal is to use up the wasted space in our tiny little cracker jack box and make it more functional.

Since there is soon to be 3 people in here, we need all the space we can get!

I just know that as soon as we get the house exactly how we like it, it will sell. Which I'm fine with, thats just always the way that it goes! I think all of the improvements and changes we are making definitely make it more unique and functional.

I have finished painting Keating's room, now comes the fun part of decorating!

My cleaned out closet/ future sewing/ craft area. I cant wait to get this finished!

HELP!!! Im nesting and I cant stop!!!

I think I need to be committed. It is 12:41 (WAY past my bedtime) and I just finished cleaning out our entire closet.

I had the epiphany that our closet had a lot of wasted space today.... Wasted space that would make the perfect new home for my sewing/ crafting area! Wasted space that I needed to take care of, immediately!

You see, my sewing and craft room is being kicked to the curb for Keating's room. The sacrifices we make for our kids! =) So I had to find it a new home.

I think I'm going to move or get rid of the bottom shelf and put my sewing table there. Then use the shelves to store my crafty stuff and fabric scraps.

This still may look messy to some, but it is so much more consolidated now. If only I can keep it this way!

I am like the Energizer Bunny on crack... seriously!
