Charleston

Hey Y'all! Sorry for being so scarce, life has been hectic across the board and it has left little time for blogging. This past weekend, my parents offered to take the boys to the beach. The kid free weekend initiated a quick trip to Charleston for Brad and me. We decided we were well overdue for a weekend away since we hadn't left town together in 4.5 years! It had been way too long!

We enjoyed spending time together and being tourists. Most of our time there was spent discovering restaurants and bars and looking at all of the gorgeous scenery. I asked for suggestions on things to see via Instagram, and really appreciate all of the great ideas. We did as many of them as we could.

Upon arriving to town on Friday, we hit happy hour at a few spots while dodging rainstorms.  We decided to drop into the Rarebit for dinner and it was awesome. We had the chicken and waffles and fried catfish with mac and cheese. To die for! I also tried my first Moscow Mule in a frosty copper mug. Definitely my new favorite drink and I will be on the lookout for the copper mugs to make these at home!

Sorry for the blurry photos, I didn't realize my phone was set to macro.

After dinner, we met up with one of my best friends and her husband that live in town. We stayed up way past our bedtime catching up and having a dance party in their living room! The next morning we got an early start with a breakfast at The Mills House and then did a lot of walking around town taking photos of ourselves!

The history in Charleston amazes me and all of the architecture is so beautiful.

Plants also grow like crazy there! I wish I could get my flowers to do this well!

We intended to stay through Sunday, but late Saturday afternoon we decided to head home so that we could get a jump on Sunday and do work around the house. We have a lot of projects under way that we would like to have completed before we move back in. If you have small kids, then you can understand that it is much easier to get these things accomplished without chasing little boys and making sure that one of them isn't sneaking off to eat dog food!

Overall, it was a great weekend of catching up with friends and we really enjoyed our time together. I am very thankful for my parents bringing the boys with them to the beach, but I am more than ready to see them tonight and kiss their little cheeks!

  1. Fun! We love Charleston too. I've never had a Moscow Mule before but I saw the mugs at Total Wine the other day, so you may want to check them out.
