I usually keep my blog upbeat. I try not to give out too many details, while still writing about my family life and our daily happenings. This post is going to be very candid.
My husband has been wronged and Im not just saying that because Im his wife. Everyone knows it... You know the instant pissed off feeling you get when someone messes with someone that you love??? You just instantly want to throat punch them? Yep that's been me for the last week. It has been brewing for the past few months, but last week took the cake.
In case you forgot, hubs is or was the police chief of a small town. This town is the epitome of Mayberry. To give you an idea of how small it is, the neighborhood I live in is probably twice the size, with twice the occupants. When people use the phrase "one horse town" I'm not even sure if it would qualify... I've never even seen a horse there. They have no stop lights, not even a store. It is the definition of east bumble...... yeah you get the idea.
In January a new mayor took office. The mayor seemed to be good for the city. He had great ideas and ways to help the city progress and grow. As soon as he took office, all of that changed. A man that formally had a progressive agenda, now had a vendetta. His first douchetastic item on his new agenda was to take away the Chief position from hubs. Apparently his young age affected his ability to police a town, a town the size of a postage stamp, might I remind you.
This man has NO idea how to run a city. You dont go demoting someone just because you feel like it. This isnt playing a game of sim city or something... this is real life and people's lives are affected by him being a jerk.
On to the next order of business.
As if a demotion wasnt enough, last week Brad was unlawfully fired. I stress unlawfully because the mayor broke 3 rules when doing so...
To sum it all up, this man is on a power trip. He broke the city charter to fire him. He had been trying to find a reason to fire him for awhile, but Brad being a good chief, didnt give him one. Last weekend, the mayor insisted that Brad work and miss being a groomsmen in his best friends out of town wedding. It gave him the ammo he had been looking for when Brad told him that wasnt possible to work. (My husband is a dang good friend!)
So, Im currently at home on maternity leave and my husband is unemployed. Awesome! I know it will all work out and that God has better things in store, but that doesnt keep me from wanting to hit the guy in the face.
So yall, if you think about it... say a prayer for us. We have a family to support and a house to pay for (we are trying to rent it).
Thanks Everyone!!

You are right in that God has a plan...but in the mean time...I'm all about getting pissed as possible!! I hope that there is justice that comes to the one who wronged you. BTW..I love and totally use the word "douchetastic"...! Good Luck!
ReplyDeleteYou will be in my prayers. My husband's work situation isn't very good either. But we have taken strength in knowing that God has a plan & all things will work out for those of us that serve HIM. Send me a note if you'd like to chat, I know it can be a difficult situation. theurbanwhisk at gmail dot com

Honey, I am so sorry! That guy sounds like a real jerk. I'm sure whatever God has in store for you guys will be awesome, your family will be in my prayers!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear this. As a fellow officer's wife, I feel for you right now. This is a very special time in your lives, and this isn't what should have been dealt to you.
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised to find that communities are functioning the same, even far from here. Though maybe I shouldn't be. As this mayor has come in and turned everything upside down, the newly elected commissioners in our county have done the same. My husband's department has been crippled because of it. We're hoping he maintains his job after this year.
I'm so sorry this mayor, someone who probably should not have been in this position, was able to convince the people he was what they needed. As a result, a good, hard working man who protects his community has been wronged.
You and Brad will remain in our prayers, and I hope that God will soon bless you with what He intends to make this right.
That sounds awful! I would be just as pissed as you. I hope Brad gets justice and your family will absolutely be in my prayers
ReplyDeleteThat is terrible! Do you think Brad has a good legal case to bring against them? It might be worth it, not just for you guys' sake but also for future employees that may also be wronged by this public official. If you ever need any legal references, advice, etc. let me know!
ReplyDeleteAww, sorry to hear about the unfortunate series of events. My husband has been unemployed for over a year, so we definitely understand your situation. We'll keep you in our prayers and hope something good comes along for you all. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI am praying for y'all!
ReplyDeleteI am so very sorry to hear this. Is there a way you can petition this? I really wish you all the best and I am sure God has something amazing in store for your family. My DH was unemployed for 9 months so I know how you feel.
ReplyDeleteOh no! I'm so so sorry! You know I'll be praying and let me know if there's anything y'all need. Unfortunately for both of us, we are still right down the street :-) haha and I'm only saying that cause of the house selling thing . . .
ReplyDeleteIm definitely praying for you guys! I know its hard but God does have a plan and you guys are really blessed by lots of loving friends and family! Let me know if there is anything we can do! :)
ReplyDeleteI have been following your blog for awhile now and I'm so sorry to hear this. Your family will be in my thoughts! I'm sure that everything will work as it should, although I'm sure that is hard to image right now.
ReplyDeletePraying for you and your family! Please try not to stress about it much. It really will all work itself out how it should be! Stay strong!
ReplyDeleteDouchetastic is my new favorite word... it has officially overtaken craptastic. I am so sorry. What a terd. Know any good lawyers!?!? :) Hang in there. xoxo
ReplyDeleteI've seen your blog a few times, but swear I found it today for a reason.
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I are going through a VERY similar situation right now. He lost his job on Monday. He was pretty much bullied out and the company did it in a completely shady, crappy manner. They called him in on Friday - and started knit picking issues with him. It was all down hill from there.
We did NOT see this coming and feel like we have been hit by a Mack truck.
This week has SUCKED as we try and pick up the pieces.
The only thing different is we don't have a baby - and I am still working, but believe me; I know how you feel.
I will totally be keeping your family in my thoughts and prayers, and I hope this is a short stint with unemployment.
Good luck with everything.
So sorry. T&P for you and your fam.
ReplyDelete((hugs))
As a fellow officer's wife, I'm very sorry. I hope your hubby finds a new job quickly. We were worried about something similar in our small town as well. Luckily, so far so good. I'll keep your family in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteOh no you didn't tell me this today!!! I had no idea! I'm so sorry I will be praying for you both. What a dick that mayor is.
ReplyDeleteI don't have any advice, but I wanted to comment to tell you that your family is in my prayers. I hope you guys find a solution as soon as possible, and that it ends up being an even better situation for your family. *hugs*
ReplyDeleteThat totally sucks! You guys need to find a really good lawyer. My dh lost his job two weeks before we had our second son and was unemployed for three months. It was a trying time for all of us. I will pray for justice with your dh's job and that this all works out for you.
ReplyDeleteI will say a prayer for you guys & I am so sorry that this has happened to you & your family.
ReplyDeletei'm so sorry you have to go through all this.
ReplyDeleteYour good people...
xooox
My thoughts and prayers are with ya'll while you go through this rough patch. I understand how you feel and know that if you weren't a lady you'd let the douchebag have it right in his face! Not to sound cliche, but truly, when one door closes another will open that leads to better things! This has proven to be true over and over in my life (I'm a bit older than you honey). So...love on your adorable son, cling to your husband, and know there are better days ahead. Maybe you should get the ultimate revenge and write a best-selling novel about this with Mayor-McButthole as the villain!
ReplyDeleteI say you sue the snot out of that po-dunk town.
