Off to school and House Updates

Keating had his first day of preschool on Monday. I was so proud of him as he hopped out of the car and went on inside. When did he become so big?? Today he decided that he didn't want to go because he wasn't allowed to play long enough, and that "singing those songs takes too long!" haha! Of course he went anyways, and I am sure he will have fun. He just takes his play time very seriously!
We are continuing to have massive amounts of rain. I pray that God will send it to the west coast to help them with all of their fires and let us dry out a bit.
Thankfully, our house now has a roof on it! That should help with the building process since their will no longer be huge puddles in the future living room. As of now, we are at a stand still waiting on the windows. Once the windows are installed, then it will be sided, electricity and HVAC will be added, and then we can sheet rock.
We have been pricing kitchen cabinets and I could not believe the astronomical price we got from lowes. ONLY 24 THOUSAND DOLLARS! Wow what a bargain! Umm, no thanks Lowes! I am in the process of pricing and looking at Ikea cabinets. Has anyone else used them? What are your thoughts?

I recently found this old claw foot bathtub on Craigslist. We were going to attempt to restore it ourselves, but decided that having a pro painter do it would be best. Typical bathtub refinishing is really expensive (about $800) so we have decided to go a different route. I will share more about it later. Here it is with the layers of purple and gold paint sanded down. In a Georgia Bulldog household, purple and gold is NOT a color combo you want in your house! =)

and finally, here is Archer. He is obsessed with all things water lately. Must be all the rain! I can't keep this kid dry! Keating looks starving in this photo, but I promise he is eating lots!

That's all for now!

  2. Cabinetry is crazy!! Y'all are ahead of us, so I'm going to take notes! We just started our plans this week- our architect is doing the whole thing custom, and we are so excited! We are buying an old claw foot tub, too, so I'm excited to see what you guys do!!

    1. That is really exciting! There's nothing better, yet more exhausting than picking every single detail in your entire house!! As for the tub we are using auto paint. I'll keep you posted!

  4. Only thing about Ikea cabinets is that they can't support granite/marble countertops. If you're planning on getting something like that, just double check.
