Does this make me a bad mom???

After spending tons of time sanding, staining, and refinishing this old cradle...
Keating hates it. LOATHES. it.

It is fine for little afternoon naps, but as soon as the lights are out at night, he despises it.
He can be sound asleep with his little mouth hanging wide open and as soon as I lay him in it, he starts wailing!
We have tried everything. We used it rocking and stationary. We have had the mattress inclined and flat. We got sleep positioners and a heartbeat bear. We tried swaddled and unswaddled. Nada. Nothing. The kid hates it.
Instead, this is his bed of choice.

Thank the good Lord and Fisher Price for the Little Lamb vibrating seat. Seriously.
Does it make me a bad mom that Im letting him sleep in it? I mean, I dont think it matters where he sleeps as long as he sleeps. Right?!

It makes it better that he looks so cute and cozy in it!

  1. it doesn't matter right now--it probably makes him feel safer in a smaller space all swaddled up!! :)

  2. My son is four months old and STILL only naps in his little lamb swing. That swing is a god sent!

  3. That cradle is beautiful, it's too bad he hates it. But the little one has to sleep right? I don't think you're a bad mom for letting him sleep in his seat :)

  4. Nope it means you are a smart mom and have figured out something that he actually likes! He will be in his crib soon enough.

  5. Both my daughters (one is now 20 months, the other is 3 months) slept in a vibrating chair, that I put inside their crib, until they were around 3 months. My doctor said it was perfectly fine - whatever works for your baby is fine! Also, my 3 month old still sleeps in her swing for her naps, for some reason she doesn't like the crib during the day. So weird. But whatever works, works. Right? But that crib you refurbished is so precious! Hopefully he'll get to use it at some point.

  6. I agree, you're a smart mom! Who cares where he sleeps, as long as he sleeps and you get some too! :)

  7. Flynn did the same thing, I actually put it in his crib so he got used to the surroundings, they like to feel "cuddled". You are doing great!

  8. I agree.. he'll eventually sleep elsewhere, but right now, as long as he sleeps.. don't knock it! I have the same blanket by the way.. it's so soft!!

  9. If he sleeps better in the swing then that is where I would let him sleep; he will get used to his crib when he is ready.......You are a good mommy for doing what makes him happy :)

  11. Oh Jayci always wanted to sleep in her swing - she was ok at night . . . but for naps she refused to sleep anywhere but the swing (or my arms) -- my motto was "whatever works"!

  12. I feel like it is all about survival those first few months. in my mind, whatever works is what it is going to be! :) my daughter slept in her swing during the day for most of her first months and i didn't have any problems switching her to the crib once it was time.

  14. he is just too cute :) I'm not a mom so I don't know about sleeping, but it seems like as long as he sleeps that's what's important.

  15. oh my I remember Madison absolutley HATING her crib and pack and play! She screamed everytime I laid her in in, so she slept in her lamb swing for the first 5 months of her life. One day she was done and has been sleeping in her crib ever since. It's funny how babies have preferences right away and the most important thing I learned was to do WHATEVER worked!!
