If you have a minute, please say a prayer for our German Shepherd Titan or "Tidy boy" as I like to call him. = )
Yesterday, B brought him home from playing with his golden retriever "brother" Jasper, and he was crying when he would lay down due to leg pain. He is going to the vet today to be put under and to get xrays.
We are hoping that it is not hip dysplasia which is very common in German Shepherds. If it is, there is a good chance that we will have to send him back to the breeder for another dog. Apparently dogs with this problem cannot train to be police k9's. Which I think is total crap and discrimination. He is so sweet and I cant bare the thought of having to get rid of him.
Hopefully it is just from him growing so quickly and is something he will outgrow. So pray with me if you will?
Thanks!!!
you got it!! good healthy thoughts for your furry son =)

ReplyDeleteOh no...hope he gets well soon! How old is he?
ReplyDeleteHe is 6 months... so still a baby. Just a very big baby!
ReplyDeleteHealthy thoughts his way! Fenway had/has dysplasia... I hope that isn't the case with your little guy!
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry. I know exactly what you are going through. 24 hours after we received Bear, he became very sick. We found out he had parvovirus and it was suggested to us to put him down. I just couldn't bear the thought. We were already so attached to him. We had been in close touch with the breeder from the minute he was born and really felt he was part of the family. We sucked it up and had the vets intervene. After 11 days in isolation, multiple transfusions, tons of IV's, and $5000 he pulled through. The breeder had promised us she would pay the bill, but when it came she didn't. As a matter of fact we never heard from her again. We ended up paying and it was the best thing we ever did. Bear is one of the best dogs ever, I just can't imagine what it would have been to put him down.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry that you have to make this agonizing decision. I pray everything works out for you. Good luck!
