I hurried home to measure and discovered they would fit perfectly on my existing rods with just enough to brush the hardwoods. At $17.99 each, I knew this was a bargain! I spent a few days trying to talk myself out of my love for them, because I always do that when I really love something... It is like a test I give myself to make sure that it isn't an impulse buy. A week later, I passed the test and I was ready to commit; but Target was quickly selling out of these little beauties. I went to three Targets to get enough for my two large windows. I LOVE the way they turned out!!!
The lamps are an old pair I had that used to be brown. A little glossy white Rustoleum cleaned them right up. While I was at it, I also spray painted the shades in oil rubbed bronze. They were originally olive green. I had no idea that you can spraypaint fabric, but it worked quite well.
The room is so big and open that the pattern helps tie everything together. Yes, my couch pillows no longer match. That is my next project.
I would love to eventually have a pair of wing back chairs for infront of this window, once we move the TV over the fireplace. One step at a time. One step at a time.
I am also trying to figure out what to do here^ It needs something to fill the space and I can't decide what. I dont want to fill it with just anything... a photo collage, one big piece of art, a huge family photo? I change my mind daily, nothing has passed my week long test as of yet.
Candace these are GORGE!!! And I'll totally buy those pillows from you!
ReplyDeleteI was just looking at this exact table cloth yesterday trying to decide if I should buy it or not for my living room! I love how yours turned out!! Is the length 84 inches or more?
ReplyDeleteI can honestly say I would NEVER have guessed that those were tablecloths. They look great in your living room. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the new curtains. That gives me an idea for a window in our basement den now. What about a big sunburst mirror or just a nice large mirror for the wall between the windows?
ReplyDeleteThe curtains good great! A family picture in on of those chunky frames would look good between your windows. My husband just made a chunky frame for me because I was not about to pay $200 for one!
ReplyDeleteThat should read "look" great ;)
ReplyDeleteAWESOME!!! I want those for my windows!!! Going asap to Target!!!
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job & they look fantastical!!
ReplyDeleteI used a Target shower curtain for our new nursery curtains!!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea!! Did you line them? Also, this is what I think you should do to fill in that space - I'm going to do it to put in Annyson's room. Get a blank canvas, and paint colors that go w/ your room. Then let everyone in the family paint on it. Splatter paint on it, walk on it, whatever :) Its a great memory and piece of art!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you didn't see it because it was right after Archer was born, but looking through your pics I fell in love with your couch pillows and I want to know where you got them! :) Also, what are the dimensions of the curtains? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteLove the curtains, they turned out great! For the empty space-Chalkboard paint the glass of a large old picture frame. I just did that in my dining room and love it :)
ReplyDeleteCheck out my new paintings on facebook if you get a chance! They have great texture and you might like that to fill your space! https://www.facebook.com/MerryMemories or you can visit www.mmartworks.com and some of the pieces can be found there! Just a thought! Everything looks great!
ReplyDeleteKristy I didn't line them. Erika the pillows were also from a Target tablecloth!
ReplyDeleteOh, good to know! ::off to surf the Target website::
ReplyDeleteI love photo collages!! Thats my vote!
ReplyDeleteYOure baby is getting SOO big!
I should never give advice about decorating... Not my best 'thing'!... But with your talent for photography and your love of finding or making things out of unusual items... I vote with kristen, above! You could use your photo's of special events, places and family in your life and put them in unusual frames - with your artistic talent you could make a beautiful collection of pictures that you could even change out when you wanted to add new ones. Me... I have to go with one big picture or two side by side or my moms advice ..always group in odd numbers! But YOU could do a true work of art arranging them, plus getting to show off your amazing photography! Archer is getting so big so fast! He is adorable, as is Keating!
ReplyDeleteYou could buy one of those neat wall decals, put it on rectangular piece of glass and mount it to the wall with circular metal mounts. I think it would look awesome!
ReplyDeleteawesome idea!! i love how that turned out! i have seen that idea on pinterest before and thought it was creative!
ReplyDeleteThey look great! Love the pattern!
ReplyDeleteLove those curtains! And I totally do the same thing - try to talk myself out of buying something for a few days. I thought maybe I was crazy for doing that, so it's nice to hear that I'm not the only one :)
ReplyDeleteLove! What a great idea!
ReplyDeletewell done! the curtains/table cloths look AWESOME!!
